Beyond the Main Quest: How We Give Back

Why choose between great marketing and doing good?

Let’s be honest—marketing doesn’t always have the best reputation. It’s often seen as manipulative, pushy, or deceptive. Despite this, we believe marketing has the power to amplify important causes, connect people with solutions they actually need, and drive meaningful social change.

We may call this page our “side quests,” but giving back is central to who we are as an agency. We’re here to prove that marketing can be a force for positive impact.

When you choose Full Stacks, you’re not just getting great marketing. You’re partnering with an agency that believes business should be a force for good. Every project we take on, every dollar we earn, helps us do more meaningful work in our communities. (We’re a remote team!)

Here’s how we make it happen:

When organizations we care about are doing meaningful work and need help telling their story online, we’re here for it.

Here are a few examples of causes we’ve helped:

  • Care Housing Society: we designed a website for a cause close to Jen’s heart.
  • Stop Race Based Hate: local Edmonton influencer Linda Hoang asked us if we could help make this anti-racism resource a reality. We said yes!
  • Fringe Festival: Edmonton is a city known for its festivals, and we’re proud to sponsor Fringe!
  • World Ride: our CMB (Chief Mountain Biker) Emma pitched helping this charitable organization with their website so they could qualify for Google Ad Grants.

Beyond pro-bono work, we regularly donate to organizations creating real change in areas we care about, including:

  • Bent Arrow: supports the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being of Indigenous children, youth, and families.
  • Bissell Centre: removes barriers and supports people as they move out of poverty.
  • Rainbow Railroad: helps LGBTQI+ people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics
  • Ronald McDonald House Alberta: serves families seeking vital medical treatment for their seriously sick or injured child.
  • Orange Shirt Day Walk: in support of residential school survivors and to honor children who didn’t survive.
  • Night Light Walk: in support of women and children who are ready to take their first brave steps away from domestic violence.

Every year, we talk with our team to learn about causes that are important to them. We then focus our support to those areas and try to share the love across different organizations as much as possible.

Every year we organize 1-2 volunteering events that bring our remote team together to give back in Edmonton.

Beyond the obvious community benefit, it’s our way of connecting as a team that Slack and Zoom meetings can’t replicate.

We’ve packed food hampers at the Edmonton Food Bank, picked up trash in our neighborhoods and river valley trails, and always manage to have fun while doing good work! We leave these events not just feeling good about helping our community, but genuinely excited to tackle challenges together.

Dana speaks at conferences throughout the year, and when organizers hook her up with extra tickets, she shares them with the community! She’s given away tickets to MozCon, Women in Tech SEO Festival, and brightonSEO. Be sure to follow her on LinkedIn and Bluesky, and follow Full Stacks on LinkedIn to stay in the loop for future ticket giveaways.

Analytics Playbook, Dana’s online training for everything analytics, occasionally does giveaways as well! If you’re interested in GA4, GTM, or Looker Studio, give Analytics Playbook a follow on LinkedIn so you don’t miss future course giveaways and freebies. We’re also happy to offer parity pricing so the courses are affordable to our industry peers around the world.
